Monforte San Giorgio: the Tour of barrels and catoj

There are so many events that animate autumn in Sicily. Events that allow visitors not only to discover the atmospheres but also the most typical flavors of this particular period of the year. Those are the reasons that made you choose Sicily as a destination? In that case, we want give you a good advice: take part in the 2017 edition of the barrels and catoj Tour, which will be held in Monforte San Giorgio on November 18 and 19.

The path

What you are going to do in these two days will be a true journey to appreciate the gastronomic specialties and the best wines of the area. You will do it discovering:

• The barrels, then visiting wineries and locals of some of the main producers;
• The catoj , the characteristics and small houses of Monforte San Giorgio, where you will find typical products.

Walking through the historic center, stopping at the various tasting points set in narrow streets and squares, the two days will be enriched by nightclubs, singers, serenades and folklore groups.

How to get

Monforte San Giorgio is located in the metropolitan city area of Messina. To get from the city to the close, you must:

• Take the E90 towards Palermo;
• Exit Rometta;
• Take the highway 113 to Fondachello;
• From Fondachello, take first the provincial road 58 and then the provincial road 60, following the signs for Monforte San Giorgio.

The car journey takes less than an hour.
