Sicily in winter means (also) fun. The fun of the Carnival, of course. Which, in this region, is a very anticipated event. Especially if we are talking about the 2017 edition of the Carnival of Acireale.
They will be seven days dedicated only to floats, colours, masks and music: to be precise, the Carnival 2017 of Acireale will take place on February 18th, 19th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 28th. The event will be enriched by parades, exhibitions, performances, street shows, concerts.
The most important moment, of course, will be Mardi Gras: on February 28th, will take place the floats parade (9pm, in Piazza Duomo).
…and not only
- In addition to its flamboyant and colourful Carnival, Acireale is also famous for its spas. In February, what better way to restore mind and body?
- Acireale is located in a very peculiar part of Sicily, called Riviera dei Limoni: after the Carnival, you might enjoy a relaxing excursion.
How to get there
Acireale is a small village near Catania. To get there from Catania, just take the A18 motorway towards Messina and follow the road signs to Acireale. The journey by car takes about thirty minutes.
