Novara di Sicilia: spending Christmas in one of the most beautiful hamlet

This year, you’d like to spend Christmas in Sicily. For several reasons: the culinary traditions, the charm of the place, the many opportunities for fun. But you have not found the idea that is right for you. How about spending Christmas 2015 in Novara di Sicilia, one of the most beautiful hamlet of Italy?

 

The program

  • The Christmas market of Novara di Sicilia will take place every day, from December 8 to the first days of January, at 5pm. Very appreciated by tourists and visitors, it’s the occasion to taste some of Sicilian typical products.
  • Christmas Eve will be enriched by two important moments: the Nativity in Piazza Duomo (the main square of Novara di Sicilia) and the Holy Mass at 11pm.
  • The gathering of old and young Santa Clauses will take place on Christmas Day at 5pm.
  • December 26, from 5pm, will be the day of the live Nativity scene and of the craft markets (where you can taste Sicilian typical products).
  • On December 27, at 6:30pm in Casalaina theater, Caruso band will perform Note di Natale (literally, “notes of Christmas”). Entrance for free.
  • January 2, Saturday, will be again the day of the live Nativity scene and of the craft markets. They will take place also on January 3 and 6.

 

How to get there

Novara di Sicilia is a small municipality in the province of Messina. To get there from the city on the Strait:

  • take the E90 towards Palermo
  • take Falcone exit
  • take the state highway 185 and follow the road signs to Novara di Sicilia

The journey by car takes about one hour and a quarter.
