All the magic of Christmas: the living nativity scene of Monterosso Almo

Are you planning, on the occasion of Christmas in Sicily, to spend a holiday along the east coast of Sicily? We have a great idea for you, an idea that will allow you to immerse yourself in the typical Christmas atmosphere: the 2016 edition of the living nativity scene of Monterosso Almo.

The living nativity scene

Why add this event to your itinerary? The reason is this: you will see one of the most beautiful living nativity scenes of Sicily set in one of the most beautiful small Italian towns of historical interest. Monterosso Almo, in fact, is a sort of small Eden on a mountain.

It is here, among the narrow streets and the stone houses of the old town, that will take place the live nativity scene, a real tradition since 1984. The re-enactment is so accurate that you will make a real journey back in time.

The living nativity scene will take place on December 26th and on January 1st, 6th, 7th and 8th.

How to get there

Monterosso is a small municipality in the Libero consorzio comunale di Ragusa. To get there from Catania, one of the main port along Sicilian east coast:

  • Take the E45 motorway towards south;
  • Take the Lentini – Carlentini exit;
  • Take the state highway 194 and follow the road signs to Monterosso Almo.

The journey by car takes about one hour and twenty minutes.
