Your ideal vacation must have a characteristic: trails overlooking a breathtaking sea. Well, the island that can offer you this is Marettimo. And there are five excursions that will allow you to discover an unforgettable place.
From the old port, in the village of Marettimo, taking the road along the coast, towards north. You’ll reach the promontory of punta Troia, with its castle. This excursion will give you spectacular views over the sea.
Cala Bianca is one of the most beautiful beaches that you can admire on Marettimo Island. Before arriving at punta Troia, take the road that leads to the beach. The trail is very challenging, especially in the final part: it is recommended for experienced hikers.
The starting point is, once again, the village of Marettimo but, this time, the road leads towards south. Passed the cemetery and the beach of praia dei Nacchi, you will find the road signs to punta Bassana, about 180 meters above sea level. Even in this case, breathtaking views await you. The last part of the trail is quite dismal, so be careful.
Arrived at the cemetery of the island, follow the signs to Carcaredda and punta Libeccio. Passed a pine forest, you’ll arrive at punta Semaforo. From here, you can take another path that leads to Case Romane and to Marettimo village.
Following a paved path from scalo vecchio, you arrive at the so-called Case Romane (“Roman Houses”), a defensive structure and a Byzantine church. From the site of Case Romane, another path leads to monte Falcone, from which you can admire the whole island.
