How to get to Alcantara Park: from Messina and from Catania

It is one of the most recommended excursions from Messina. Because Alcantara Park represents priceless natural treasure in Sicily: a long canyon, formed by ancient lava rocks cooling, and crossed from the homonymous river. A must-see place. But first you need to know how to get there.

The main towns near Alcantara Park are Catania and Messina.

From Messina (via state highway 114):

  • take the state highway 114 towards Catania
  • follow the road signs to Giardini-Naxos
  • take the state highway 185 towards Francavilla di Sicilia
  • after thirteen kilometers, follow the signs to Alcantara Park.

Da Messina (via highway):

  • take A18 highway towards Catania
  • follow the road signs to Giardini-Naxos
  • take the state highway 185 towards Francavilla di Sicilia
  • after thirteen kilometers, follow the signs to Alcantara Park.

From Catania:

  • take A18 highway towards Messina
  • follow the road signs to Giardini-Naxos
  • take the state highway 185 towards Francavilla di Sicilia
  • after thirteen kilometers, follow the signs to Alcantara Park.

It takes almost one hour to get to Alcantara Park. It’s recommended to have a car or a motorcycle, carried on a ferry boat to Sicily.
