You know which are the most beautiful places in Sicily. But, for you, these (wonderful) places are too known. In fact, you would like, during your next holidays, to discover the less-known Sicily. Well, to make this wish comes true, we have an itinerary:
- Motya. Near Marsala, in the province of Trapani. It’s a unique place for two reasons. The first is the large salt works with the characteristic windmills. The second is the small island of San Pantaleo, where there are the remains of the Phoenician city of Motya. An excellent idea for a one-day excursion.
- The castle of Caccamo. When you say Sicily, sea, nature and unspoiled islands come to your mind. But this is also a very ancient region. And the castle of Caccamo, the largest in Sicily, is one of the proves: it’s in the province of Palermo, it’s easy to reach from Sicilian capital city and, maybe, you will see a ghost…
- Riviera dei Limoni. Slow travel means discover the chosen destination only walking and/or cycling. The Riviera dei Limoni is the stretch of coast between Acitrezza, Aci Castello and Taormina, in the eastern part of the island. For an excursion dedicated to sea stacks, medieval towns and small beaches.
- Fiumara d’arte. One of the most surprising places. It is a real open-air museum in the province of Messina. Fiumara d’arte is a series of installations by contemporary artists along the Tusa river.
- I luoghi di Montalbano. The famous Commissioner, created by Andrea Camilleri, don’t even need an introduction. And fans can see the places that inspired the great Italian writer: Scicli, Ragusa, Punta Secca, Donnalucata, Castle of Donnafugata, contrada Pisciotto a Sampieri.
How to discover this five less known places in Sicily? There’s a very simple way: book a ferry to Sicily and plan the holiday.
