Floresta: taste and tradition of the edition of Ottobrando

Sicily in autumn becomes a land of surprising colors and, above all, of unique, unforgettable flavors, rich in tradition. If you are going to spend a little holiday, or even just a weekend, from the parts of Messina, know that, on the four Saturdays and the four Sundays of October 2018, Floresta will host the 2018 edition of Ottobrando.

The protagonists

“Vasola a crucchittu” (the typical hook beans of the area), black Nebrodi pig, mushrooms, chestnuts, honey and the famous provola of Nebrodi will be the real protagonists of the 2018 edition of Ottobrando: in the days of the event, there will be several stand where you can taste these specialties. And that’s not all, given that several other collateral events will also be organized, such as exhibitions and tastings.

How to get

Messina is the most important port near Floresta (and is also one of the main ports where ferries arrive and depart from and to Sicily). To get from the city on the Strait, you have to take:

• The A20 motorway towards Palermo;
• The Brolo-Capo d’Orlando East exit;
• The provincial road 145 up to Sinagra;
• The provincial road 139 up to Ucria;
• State road 116 and you arrive in Floresta.

The journey by car, which you can take on the ferry, takes just half an hour.
