Pop art exhibition 2016: one month to see Warhol and Banksy in Taormina

You are spending a vacation along the east coast of Sicily. And you’d like to give the trip a touch of culture. Taormina is easy to reach. Where, until July 2, the exhibition PoPism – La rivoluzione pop nell’arte (“PoPism – The pop revolution in arts”) takes place until July 2nd.
Fifty years of pop art celebrated with masterpieces by fifty major international artists: it is an authentic tribute, from Banksy to Warhol, from graffiti to pop surrealism and street art. Eighty masterpieces, from private collections and famous galleries, describe a revolution, the pop revolution, that influenced all aspects of modern life.
This exhibition takes place in one of the most beautiful place in Sicily. It’s possible to visit Taormina in one day. Some of the best things to see are the Greek Theatre, Isola Bella beach, the Duomo, the gardens.
From pop art to music
The Greek Theatre, a wonderful archaeological treasure, in Summer becomes the location for the concerts of great artists, such as Duran Duran, Stefano Bollani, Robert Plant and Gianna Nannini.
How to get there
You can reach Taormina from Catania and from Messina.
- From Messina: take A18 motorway towards Catania and follow the road signs to Taormina; the journey by car takes 45 minutes.
- From Catania: take A18 motorway towards Messina and follow the road signs to Taormina; the journey by car takes about 50 minutes.
