After a pleasant swim in the water of the wonderful cala Junco, one of the most beautiful beaches on Panarea Island, sit on the shore, relax and enjoy the panorama. Now, take a little good advice: since you are here, we suggest a great excursion to the prehistoric village of punta Milazzese.
- The site. The prehistoric village dates back to the Bronze Age and is located on the promontory of punta Milazzese. The site consists of the remains of 23 oval huts and a quadrangular hut. Here, pottery, utensils and other objects of everyday life were found, all of Mycenaean origin.
- The position. The remains of the prehistoric village are on a plateau overlooking the sea, in a strategic (thanks to the high coasts) and breathtaking position. Probably, for a time it was also used as a sighting spot against pirate raids. A short path leads to cala Junco, which should be the dock used by the prehistoric villagers.
- How to get there. Just follow the road signs to cala Junco. Then, you have to take the road that, from the village of Panarea, leads to the punta del Torrione and cala degli Zimmari. From here, follow the path leading to cala Junco: the prehistoric village is located just above.
