Arancino Festival of Ficarrazzi: the edition from 7 to 10 September

In many parts of Italy it’s called supplì. But only in Sicily you can taste the authentic arancino. The date is in Catania from 7 to 10 September for the Sixteenth edition of Arancino Festival of Ficarrazzi.

The Festival

For sixteen years now, the hilly part of Acicastello, with breathtaking views of the Ciclopo Riviera, hosts a gastronomic-cultural event devoted to a very popular dish. In many parts of Italy it’s called supplì, in Sicily it is known as arancino or arancina, respectively in the eastern and western part of the island. You can have the classic tastes of ragu, butter and norm but, in the last editions of the festival, you can eat also other varieties: pistachio, mushrooms, pesto, octopus, black sepia, tuna and chicken. At Ficarrrazzi, therefore, in the late-summer the king will be just him: the arancino!

How to get

To reach Ficarrazzi you have to follow these suggestions:

• Take the state road 114 to the north, head towards Acicastello;
• From here take the provincial road 52, head towards Ficarrazzi.

In September is still sea time, so you will have several opportunities to visit the most beautiful beaches.
