Where is Scala dei Turchi and how to reach it?

You probably have heard about it from friends or relatives who have been in Sicily on holiday. Obviously, they talked about how beautiful it is. After all, it’s one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily. And now it’s your turn to visit Scala dei Turchi. But you have to know where it is and how to reach it.

Where is Scala dei Turchi

There’s just one adjective to describe it: spectacular. It’s a long white cliff, dazzling under the sun in the afternoon. The cliff has this form because of the wind and the sea. Scala dei Turchi is on the sea side of Realmonte, a place near Porto Empedocle, in the province of Agrigento, along the south coast of Sicily.

How to reach Scala dei Turchi

Now that you know where it is, the next step is to know how to reach Scala dei Turchi. There are some ways: the three most important ports are Palermo, Trapani and Catania, in fact an excursion at Scala dei Turchi could be a great idea if you’re on holiday in Sicily.

• From Palermo. Drive through the State Road 624 to Sciacca. Once you see the junction to Sciacca/Agrigento, turn into the State Road 115 to Realmonte.
• From Catania. Follow the road signs to Agrigento and turn into State Road 640. Then follow the road signs to Realmonte.
• From Trapani. Once you arrive in Castelvetrano, turn into the State Road 115 to Sciacca/Agrigento and follow the road signs to Realmonte.

In all three ways, it takes about 1 hour and a half to arrive.
