Blue Flag Beaches: here are the 18 that have obtained this recognition in Sicily

As always, this year the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) has also compiled the list of Blue Flag beaches throughout Italy. In Sicily there are 18 beautiful beaches that in 2020 have earned this recognition. Below is the complete list.

What is the Blue Flag

But let’s start from the beginning: what is the Blue Flag? We are talking about the well-known and important international recognition that is awarded every year by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to the best beaches in Italy. It is the most coveted prize that a beach can receive, as it certifies that the resort in question, whether it is marine or lakeside, is a seaside tourist destination that meets certain criteria relating to the sustainable management of the territory. The criteria assessed are: environmental education and information, water quality, environmental management, services and safety. This recognition, therefore, does not draw up the ranking of the most beautiful beaches, but of the cleanest, most comfortable and environmentally friendly ones.
