The Specchio di Venere on Pantelleria Island: admire a unique view

We are talking about one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily (and this just would be a good reason to visit it). But this is also a place with a peculiarity. Indeed, to be honest, there are many different peculiarities. And they all make the Specchio di Venere (literally “Venus Mirror”), on Pantelleria Island, a unique place.

The lake

Yes: it is a lake. The Venus Mirror is a large lake in the caldera of an ancient volcano. Thanks to its several thermal springs, its waters are very hot and, in fact, the Specchio di Venere is a sort of open-air thermal bath.

But the most spectacular thing of the Venus Mirror is represented by the panoramas. You can admire one in the picture above. In special moments of the day, you can see the mountain reflecting in the waters of the lake as if it was a kind of mirror: really unforgettable.

How to get there

There are two ways to get to Pantelleria Island:

• Take a ferry from Trapani (the journey takes about three hours and thirty minutes);
• Landing at Pantelleria Airport (planes depart from Palermo airport and Trapani airport).

Once on the island, the Specchio di Venere is located in the northern part of Pantelleria, in Bugeber, near the airport and near Pantelleria municipality. From Pantelleria municipality, the journey by car takes about 15 minutes.

Immersed in the nature and in the utmost silence, the Specchio di Venere is a great idea to spend a day dedicated to relaxation.
