What to see in and around Taormina: a five days journey

The name evokes the ancient charm of one of the most beautiful places of Sicily. This will also be the destination of your next vacation. In order to see the several beauties and attractions of this Sicily part, you can follow this three -days itinerary with the things to see in and around Taormina.

First day: Taormina. This is the starting point of your journey. The things to see in Taormina in one day are Greek theater, the beach of Isola Bella, IX Aprile square, Duomo and Corso Umberto.

Second day: Catania. It’s near Taormina. It’s a city with several souls, and it’s possible to visit Catania in one day: the most important attractions to see are Duomo, old town centre, Ursino castle, and the famous Etnea street.

Third day: Etna. You will return in the province of Catania. One the places that you cannot miss during a holiday in Taormina is Europe highest active volcano. The things to see on Etna are several, such as crateri sommitali, Montagnola, Monti Silvestri, Valle del Bove.

Fourth day: Messina. Such as Catania, Messina is a big city with a lot of things to see. You have only one day to visit it, therefore the attractions of the city on the Strait that you cannot miss are piazza della Repubblica, piazza Duomo, viale San Martino, piazza Cairoli, fontana di Orione.

Fifth day: Aci Castello. In province of Catania again. Castle of Aci, whose ruins rise on a rock promontory overlooking the sea, it’s the symbol of the town. And here there are other things to see, such as Acitrezza, Greek-Hellenistic necropolis, the Stacks of Cyclops.

This is the itinerary with the things to see in and around Taormina in five days. It is recommended to have a car or a motorcycle, carried on a ferry boat, in order to visit these places.
