Holiday in the Sicilian capital: the 7 towns to be seen near Palermo

You have visited the city in one day. And you have also seen the most beautiful beaches. But your vacation in the Sicilian capital is certainly not over. There are still these seven small towns to see, among the most beautiful near Palermo.

1. Terrasini

On the gulf of Castellammare. Famous for its beaches, Terrasini is a picturesque town built around Piazza Duomo, with the church dedicated to Maria Santissima delle Grazie, and Villa San Giuseppe, a small green park.

2. Cinisi

A place where the beauty of nature meets the charm of history. Cinisi, in fact, is an ancient town with findings dating back to Roman and Carthaginian times. Nearby there is the Magaggiari beach, one of the most beautiful on this coast of Sicily.

3. Scopello

A “frazione” of Castellammare del Golfo municipality. Here, the landscape is made wonderful by the sea, with the small sea stacks rising just off the coast. Recommended for a vacation dedicated to relaxation.

4. Santa Margherita Belice

Built four hundred meters above sea level. A visit to Santa Margherita Belice is recommended, above all, to see the Museo della Memoria (with hundreds of photographs of the Valle del Belice and its nine villages before the earthquake of January 15th 1968) and the Museo del Gattopardo.

5. Polizzi Generosa

Small and winding alleys among ancient buildings. The Madonie Park that surrounds the whole town. You will immerse yourself in an atmosphere that is rich in traditions. This is Polizzi Generosa.

6. Cefalù

There are so many things to see in Cefalù, from the cathedral to the medieval washhouse, from the megalithic walls to the municipal theatre. And then, of course, there are its enviable beaches, such as Lungomare, Caldura, Salinelle. Among the other things, the homonymous beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily.

7. Salemi

An Arab-medieval style town perched on a hill overlooking the Belice valley. Every turn in its streets is a continuous surprise.

These are the seven towns to visit near the Sicilian capital. To see them all, you need to book a seat on one of the ferries to Palermo and leave for your vacation.
