Ferries from Tuscany to Sicily: here’s how to book them

How to book ferries from Tuscany to Sicily? When do they leave and how long does the crossing last? Below you can find all the information you need to know.

The port of departure

Livorno is the main port of Tuscany from which ferries depart for Sicily. A city that is in an easily accessible area: in fact, it is possible to reach Livorno by car (from the A1 motorway and the A11-A12 motorway) by train (Livorno Centrale station is optically connected to some of the main Italian cities ) and by plane (the nearest airport, that of Pisa, is 18 kilometers away).

The arrival port

From Livorno, above all, the ferries going to Palermo, the Sicilian capital, depart. The duration of the entire crossing is approximately 18 hours. For this reason, we advise you to travel at night and, above all, to book a cabin: in this way, you can sleep on a comfortable bed and have a room all for you.

How to book

To reserve your place on one of the ferries that come from Tuscany to Sicily, you only need to use the online booking system you see here on the side. Once you have entered the route (Livorno-Palermo), the number and age of passengers, the date of departure and the date of return, you have finished.

In a single screen you can compare all the prices offered by the different companies, always traveling at the most convenient cost. Once the booking is complete, the tickets will be sent directly by e-mail.

Board a vehicle

The ferry also offers another, precious advantage: the ability to board a vehicle. For example, you can embark a car on ferries to Sicily, as well as motorbikes or campers. You only need to specify the type and size of the vehicle when booking online.

Remember that if you have decided to embark a vehicle, you must present yourself at the port of Livorno about two hours before departure, in order to carry out all the necessary operations. Only the driver can drive the car or, in general, the vehicle to the place that has been assigned. Moreover, during the whole duration of the crossing it will not be possible to reach the vehicle, so bring with you everything you need.
