The 7 most beautiful places of Termini Imerese: what to see during an excursion

Palermo is a city that offers many possibilities for a pleasant holiday. One of these is represented by the several attractions in its surroundings. And, since you’re planning to visit the Sicilian capital city, we recommend an excursion towards Termini Imerese: these are the seven places to see.

  1. Duomo di San Nicola di Bari. The first place of this excursion is the cathedral of the city. Built in the Fifteenth century, this is a Latin cross church with three naves. On the facade, there are the statues of four saints: John the Baptist, Peter, Paul and James. Inside, there are numerous paintings and works of art.
  2. Biblioteca Liciniana. The municipal library of Termini Imerese was established on May 17th, 1800. It is based on a rich collection of books, more than 100 thousand volumes. In addition, there are newspapers, periodicals, discs, historical photos, maps, and floor plans. The origin of the name is the priest Giuseppe Ciprì, whose nickname was Mopsus Licinio.
  3. Museo Civico. It is located in the former hospital of the Fatebenefratelli. Inside, there are many priceless finds from the city and surrounding areas. The most famous piece is certainly represented by the eight lion heads from the Temple of Victory, in Himera. In addition, there are two tuff lions, a mosaic, and several imperial portraits.
  4. Chiesa di Maria Santissima Annunziata. One of the symbols of the city of Termini Imerese. You will immediately recognize this church thanks to the beautiful dome decorated with blue tiles. The great portal is flanked by two smaller portals. The complex is completed by a large garden.
  5. Acquedotto romano. You will see one of the best-preserved Roman aqueducts in Sicily. The springs are located on the slopes of Mount Calogero.
  6. Stabilimenti termali. Termini Imerese is very appreciated for the benefits of its thermal waters. The modern spa is located in the place of the ancient Roman baths.
  7. Himera. Of this ancient Greek colony, founded in 648 BC, today remain numerous temples, several necropolis and the floor plan of the village. The archaeological site and the museum are open every day (except on Monday).

Now that you know what are the things to see in Termini Imerese, you just have two things to do: plan your holiday and book a ferry to Sicily.
