They can be defined in this way: delights. Authentic delights of tradition, taste and culture that will make your holiday even more special. We are talking about the five wines of Sicily that we suggest you to taste.
- Nero d’Avola. We start with one of the symbolic wines of the island. It is produced on Pantelleria, near Ragusa and Val di Noto (a valley between Ragusa and Siracusa). A red wine with an intense flavor like few others, full-bodied and full, to accompany meat dishes.
- Marsala. Not just the name of a wine but also that of a locality. In general, Marsala, one of the most famous liqueur wines of Sicily and excellent to accompany desserts or, in general, to be served at the end of the meal, is produced throughout the province of Trapani and is an authentic must during a holiday in this area.
- Malvasia. But we are not talking about any Malvasia. In fact, we highly recommend tasting Malvasia from Lipari, a real joy for the palate. With a golden yellow color and a particularly aromatic scent, Malvasia owes its name to the largest of the Aeolian Islands.
- Zibibbo. Another legendary wine from Sicily. It is white, straw-yellow in color, with a very sweet taste and a quite high alcohol content. The areas of Sicily where the best Zibibbo is produced are Erice and Mazara del Vallo.
- Favinia le Sciabiche. The fifth wine that we suggest you to taste absolutely is also the most particular. The Favinia le Sciabiche, recovered after more than a century during which it had been lost, is characteristic of Favignana island and is a unique red wine of its kind, with an intense and savory flavor in which the hints of the Mediterranean scrub are felt.
And to taste these five wines of Sicily directly on site, you only have to book a ferry trip.
